"Wuh... What do you people want?"
"Just a few more minutes of your time. About the same duration as the rest of your life."

 - Jesse, Near Dark

The Sabbat are the dark reflection of the Camarilla. Created around the same time as the Camarilla, these rebels and blood cultists revel in their vampiric nature and darker impulses. Humanity is no longer a concern to these vampires, as many of them follow twisted paths of enlightenment that call to their darker natures.

Since Seattle by Choice is currently running a Camarilla campaign, Sabbat characters are not available as Player Characters in that sphere. History, lore and background with the Sabbat is available to add during character generation with storyteller approval, and knowledge of the sect can of course be gained through role-play. If you are interested in playing in the Sabbat sphere however, contact the Sabbat Sphere storytellers on the message boards for more info.

The Sabbat is seen by those outside the sect as an organization with no purpose other than to prey on other Kindred and consume their vitae through Diablerie and to spread of dissension and rebellion throughout the younger members of Kindred society. It's members are seen by other Kindred as callous and vicious brutes who place no value on Kindred existence, let alone human life, and seem to revel in releasing the Beast during frenzy. They are entrenched in the occult, carrying on bizarre and unspeakable rituals unseen by outsiders. From within the Sabbat, this is comsidered to be a gross generalization and misinterpretation of Sabbat ideals. In fact, once one sets foot outside the walls of the Sabbat, a black cloud of misinformation permeates most discussions of the sect. It is this mystery of the Sabbat that has long fascinated younger Kindred of the Camarilla: indeed, some even turn their backs on the Camarilla to join the Sabbat's ranks, never to be heard from again by their comrades in the Camarilla.

Rumors and half-truths do indeed abound concerning the Sabbat, often fueled by the sect itself to prevent the Camrailla frommlearning too much. Many of these can be dismissed, although some of hold a ring of truth.

  • The Anarchs are in league with the Sabbat, acting as spies for them and as recruiters from within the enemy.
  • The Sabbat was founded by Caine himself, it is the Camarilla that is controlled by the Antediluvians.
  • Diablerie is the true goal of the Sabbat. The sect intends to devour its way through all the blood lines of the Camarilla.
  • Certain Sabbat Vampires know a ritual that allows them to move freely in daylight hours for periods of time commensurate to their powers and generation.
  • No member of the Sabbat can be Blood Bound to another Vampire outside of the Sabbat. The Sect uses special rituals to prevent the creation of blood bonds and to break existing blood bonds.
  • The Sabbat is organized in a way similar to the Tremere. There is a small group of Elders to which all member of the Sabbat must be Blood Bound.
  • Clans within the Sabbat are not recognized as distinct and do not hold clan gatherings. Sabbat Vampires consider the Sect first and the Clan second.
  • Sabbat rituals involve Fire Walking and other uses of fire. Some Sabbat Vampires have even developed immunity to flames.
  • Assamites are among the Sabbat and are the assassins of the Elders, practicing diablerie for the benefit of the Sabbat Elders.
  • The Black Hand another name for the Sabbat.

In reality, the Sabbat is founded on two basic principles: Freedom and Loyalty. Each vampire is taught that she is part of a larger reality in which her life is dependent on those with whom she is Bonded. The Sabbat also teaches new vampires that it is their responsibility to become as strong as possible in order to be effective warriors when the Antediluvians wake. Before the time of Gehenna, they must hone their skills through contest and battle with the servants of the Antediluvians, the Camarilla infidels.
The Sabbat is unliving proof of Darwin's theory, the strong survive. The Sabbat heavily bases the creation and recognition of new Sabbat on choosing only the strong and then putting them through trials to prove themselves. They do not see themselves as Kindred, but as Vampires and only use the word Kindred with sarcasm. The Sabbat consider themselves at the apex of the food chain. They speak as if they were the true sons and daughters of Caine and continually try to convert the Camarilla Kindred to their own wild ways. All within the Sabbat are Embraced by members of a pack and then are Blood Bound to each other. Vaulderie, the giving of blood from all Sabbat members to create a bond between the embibers, is practiced. Clan lines are often crossed to gain strength and although different packs within the Sect may arise by city, their loyalty to the Sabbat as a whole can be considered fanatical.

The Sabbat preach freedom from the ruling fist of Elder vampires. The Sect was founded on the principle that no vampire should be forced to die for the cowardice of those who created him. The idea behind the Vinculum is that this shared Blood Bond creates loyalty among all vampires of the sect and inspires them to unify in troubled times in order to destroy the enemy. Participation in the Vinculum also prevents one vampire from being secretly Bonded only to another. Like the Catholics they parody, the Sabbat see the ritual of Vaulderie, in which all participants spill some of their blood into a chalice and then drink from it, as sort of vampiric communion with Caine.

The Sabbat has very firm beliefs about all outsiders. Sect members are known for their distinct separation of everyone into a categorization of "us or them". To the Sabbat, all non-Sabbat are "them", regardless of whether "they" are Vampires, Lupines, Mortals, or whatever. The Sabbat does have a few allies, but the Sect cooperates only to a limited degree, and only when it is to the Sabbat's advantage.

Conflict within the Sect is dealt with through Monomacy, a dual, fought within the Arena. The winner wins the conflict and the respect of the loser. The Challenger sends the offender a challenge which must be promptly accepted or denied. If a Sabbat denies a challenge, he is usually branded a coward, and while no one may force a Sabbat to accept a challenge, the cowardly Vampire is regarded with suspicion by his superiors. If the offender subsequently takes an action deemed harmful to the sect, the Sabbat's superior will remove the Vampire's title an right to lead. Vampires who continuously abuses Monomacy as a way of achieving power over others are usually assassinated under orders of the Inner Circle. They do not like threats to their positions.

Sabbat feel they are superior to humans. They feel no sympathy for humans; indeed, to live and act human, to feel human, is against their nature. Sabbat is the chosen. Mortals are not considered even of the same race as Sabbat. Mortals are considered animals and treated as pets and food. Sabbat occasionally use mortals as followers, servants, and spies. Mortal retainers are viewed as property and their owner may use them in any manner they see fit. Some of the most faithful mortals may become ghouls. Each ghoul is Blood Bound to only one Sabbat Vampire and does not participate in the Vaulderie. The sponsor or owner, is held accountable for all the ghoul's actions.

The Paths of Enlightenment describe, to an extent, how each Vampire views freedom, loyalty and his own vampiric nature. Sabbat have no humanity, so the Paths are essential to character formation, as they provide the moral code by which the vampire lives. Freedom and loyalty can be taken in many directions and usually are. Most packs have common ideas of how these two principles function, and many share similar Paths, clans and political factions.

It is a Sabbat belief that anyone who is not serving the Sabbat is serving the Antediluvians and must be converted or destroyed. The Sabbat continues to plan and raise sieges against Camarilla-held cities in hopes of achieving this end. The Sabbat's primary goals include destruction of Camarilla Elders, Methuselahs and Antediluvians.

The Sabbat is composed of 16 clans/bloodlines. They are the Antitribu (or anti-tribe), of every Camarilla clan (with the exception of the Giovanni). They consist of parallels to the primary Camarilla clans. In addition to these Antitribu, there are also two other clans that are very rarely found outside the Sabbat: the Lasombra and the Tzimisce, as well as several other lesser Bloodlines (the Ahrimanes, Kiasyd and Blood Brother and the Panders - a unifed group of Caitiff).

This fierce and independent all-female bloodline sprouted from the Sabbat Gangrel. Very few Ahrimanes exist because all are infertile. Their blood is weak, and they can neither pass on their gifts or Blood Bond anyone to them outside of the Vaulderie.

A vampire called Muricia, exhausted from the infighting between the country and city factions of Gangrel Antitribu, abandoned her sire and ran south into the lands of the Native Americans. She studied the magic of the native shamans and found within it the ability to break her Blood Bound with her pack. The richness of the spiritual culture gave her many gifts, and she wanted to share them; thus she founded a bloodline of like-minded vampires. Today, only a handful of Ahrimanes exist. They all keep large estates in the Deep South as well as secret underground havens, and they keep out of Sabbat politics as much as possible. Though they live alone, they contact their pack sisters at least once a month.

Feared by all yet courted by many, refusing outside allegiances yet willing to hunt Kindred for a payment of blood, the Assamites are among the most reclusive clans. Once hunted, these vampire assassins are now sought out by the Kindred to dispose of their enemies. Fearful tales are told of their skill in hunting the most dangerous prey, their bravery in combat, and their fierce loyalty to their clan. Yet the tellers of these tales do not guess at the truth: the millennia of warfare, the roots of the Jyhad, and the clan mysteries which no outsider has ever seen.

Conceived and created in crumbling Old World castles and chantries by the newly vanished Tremere antitribu and twisted Tzimisce sorcerers, the Blood Brothers are an artificially engineered bloodline of shock troops and servitors. The Blood Brothers are the dubiously successful result of experiments in blood bonding, intended to create a cell of servants that thought and acted as one.

During the Anarch Revolt, the young majority of Clan Brujah was the first and most vocal to tally to the cause. The Elders of the clan, after a passing interest in the challenge to other Elders' status quo, judged the Anarchs to be in error. After much debate and posturing, the elders and loyal childer of Clan Brujah turned their backs of the "daft and dangerous" vampires who called themselves Anarchs. As a result, the many Brujah Anarchs of the period, who almost unanimously refused to bow to the Convention of Thorns, bore a tremendous grievance against the parent clan and support the Sabbat with fervor.

Unlike Camarilla Brujah, Sabbat Brujah often feel very strongly for their sect - while Camarilla Brujah bemoan their apathetic Elders and spend their nights fighting in the parking lots of punk rock nightclubs, the Brujah antitribu have taken the Great Jyhad to the Elders and Antediluvians themselves.

Through the forest nights wander the lonely, nomadic Gangrel. Unlike their brethren, Gangrel spurn the trappings of civilization, preferring to roam the deep wilds in solitude. The Gangrel is a clan only in the loosest sense; its members tend to be rugged individualists, indifferent to the protocols of either mortal or vampire. They are the bestial ones, the closest to losing themselves to the wild.

They are on tolerable terms with Gangrel outside the Sabbat, but share no common bonds with them. In addition, they get along with Gypsies, though they usually avoid contact with them if they can. While most are loners, friendships with others of their clan are commonplace. They often have or serve as mentors within their own clan. Some Gangrel do not participate in all the activities of their pack, but this is accepted because pack members always know where to find them in case of an emergency.

A recent addition to the Sabbat, the bloodline calling itself the Harbingers of Skulls claims a history of treachery, for which it seeks to exact a hellish vengeance. The Harbingers of Skulls are necromancers on par with (and some say exceeding) the dreaded Giovanni, surrounding themselves with miasmas of death.

Members of the Harbingers of Skulls bloodline are quite powerful without exception, and they claim to have returned from their banishment to the realms of the dead. Long ago, they whisper, a rogue society of sorcerers hunted them for their blood, stealing immortality to further their own arcane lusts for power. Like the corpses they themselves resemble, something eats away at them from within. The Harbingers of Skulls have been members of the Sabbat for only a few years, and few of the youngest members of the sect have ever heard of them, let alone seen one.

The origins of the strange Kiasyd bloodline have been lost to the passage of centuries, but their affection for pomp and their curious powers lead some Cainites to suspect that their roots lie with the Lasombra. The most pervasive theory attributes their creation to unholy experimentation with the blood of the Wild Ones and forbidden deals made with demons. Whatever the truth, the result is one of the strangest consanguinities of vampires in the World of Darkness.

From their webs of shadows the Lasombra guide the destiny of the dread Sabbat. Unseen even by mirrors, these lords of darkness glide through the night they rule, orchestrating the rise and fall of Kindred and kine alike. From the Sahara Desert to the Spanish Main, from the monasteries of Seville to the mean streets of New York City, no other clan so embodies what it means to be a vampire.

Elegant yet predatory, the Lasombra honestly think of themselves as the apex of Cainite existence. Firm believers in Divine Right and the rule of the superior, they have little patience, though often much pity, for those Cainites who are (through no fault of their own) inferior.

The Lasombra character is a curious mix of noblesse oblige and healthy contempt. They actively seek power wherever it may be found, from the halls of the cloisters to the corridors of palaces, yet they do not seek the titles and glory that come along with rule. Instead of chasing command for its own sake, Lasombra take the reins of power out of a firm belief that no one can hold them better. The appearance of power is unimportant; what matters is that the decisions are being made by those most suited to make them. Indeed, most Lasombra prefer the role of kingmaker to the title of king.

The Lasombra are loyal to the Sabbat, but they also believe it is their right and responsibility to be the strongest leaders of the sect. Lasombra often fight over who should lead among them, but they prefer other Lasombra to the members of other clans. There is less intrigue in the Sabbat than the Camarilla, but what does exist is found among the Lasombra.

The Lasombra are just as concerned about freedom as the other clans of the Sabbat, but they view the means of holding onto that freedom a little differently. They emphasize the control of mortal political, religious and financial institutions as a way of defending the Sabbat from threats. The Lasombra maintain the largest number of retainers of any clan in the Sabbat. They maintain agents in many positions of power and have implanted spies throughout the world. These agents are loyal to the Sabbat, but they answer directly to the Lasombra. After all, the Lasombra consider what is good for their clan to be good for the sect.

Even more than the Ventrue and Tremere, the Lasombra are masters of intrigue. Rather than erect the genteel facade of the aforementioned clans, however, the Lasombra are openly competitive and warlike. Lasombra maintain their often tenuous control over their Sabbat brethren through a mixture of force, espionage and manipulation, often guiding the other clans without said clans' realization. The word "Machiavellian" aptly describes the members of the clan. Stealth and cunning are second nature to them, to the point that they have developed an affinity with and control of the forces of night and shadows.

The Nosferatu are horribly deformed and hideous beasts, their bodies being twisted beyond belief due to the Blood within them. Because of their deformities, the Nosferatu usually end up hiding and skulking, interacting on the fringes of society, becoming "spies and rumormongers of the first order," selling the secrets they learn to survive. Nosferatu are, for the most part, fiercly loyal to their clan and will usually side with the clan before any sect.

Cainite historians suspect that the Nosferatu antitribu joined the Sabbat not out of resentment for their Elders, but out of something more malevolent underneath the clan's postulant facade. Indeed, the Nosferatu antitribu seem to be on at least civil terms with their Camarilla counterparts, but this apparent cohesion may simply be due to the fact that they are beyond such things as petty allegiances and concentrate instead on the force that threatens their clan nightly. Of course, the Nosferatu and their antitribu are silent when asked about it, which inclines vampires to believe that this matter is theirs alone

Caitiff are not as shunned in the Sabbat as in the Camarilla, but they were still clanless and thus had no clan to speak for them until Joseph Pander of the Sabbat united them. Not all clanless among the Sabbat consider themselves Pander, but the vast majority do, especially after taking part in the Valderie.

Although not truly a clan in the strictest sense of the word (as they have no progenitor from the Third Generation), the Panders have made much of the Sabbat's egalitarian society, carving a niche of respectability for themselves in spite of their bastard pedigree. Like the Caitiff - which, for all practical purposes, they are - the Panders have no formal, recognized lineage. Any vampire who joins the Sabbat and doesn't know what clan she is becomes a Pander, as do those childer Embraced by established Panders. The group consists of a wide variety of Cainites, most of whom are young and untested. It should be noted, however, that Panders are True Sabbat, not just a dumping ground for rejected or unproved vampires of other clans.

In the forgotten nights of history, likely some time after the Convention of Thorns, a faction of the Ravnos split from their Gypsy heritage after discovering the Sabbat.

There is a saying among the Sabbat that it might be better to deal with the Devil himself than to bargain with a Ravnos antitribu. You won't get the better of either of them. In the forgotten nights of history, likely some time after the Convention of Thorns, a faction of the Ravnos split from their Gypsy heritage after discovering the Sabbat. Although the Sabbat had a grandiose ideology behind it, these separatist Ravnos found themselves more enamored of the "nightlives" these vampires led. They didn't confound themselves with complex Hindu dharma riddles, nor did they subvert their bestial natures. The Sabbat was composed of vampires through and through, and it offered many possibilities for the malicious deceit and wanderlust of these young defectors, who became the first Ravnos antitribu.

Cainites are humankind's base nature made flesh, and the Sabbat are Kindred who accept their nature and revel in the power of the Beast. The Malkavian antitribu, then, are the Beast unrestrained. While Camarilla Malkavians may instruct or illustrate an idea using their madness, the antitribu seem more concerned with spreading madness, much like a disease. If a Malkavian is crazy like a fox, their antitribu are rabid foxes.

"We have seen an end."

"In a way, we have carried it in the blood of our clan from the very beginning. Before the western Christ, beyond the knowing of the Orient's Buddhas of what
their cattle mistake for universal concepts, into the earliest days of thought. For after thought, madness inevitably arises somewhere within it. And in immortality, the pursuit of clarity through madness."

"We know it must not be entirely ours. It cannot be. We can only guess, of course, as to what lay in the most rarely touched corners of our souls before our rebirths as vampires. With no exception, our baptism in the blood of Malkav introduced us to something too powerful to hide within us. Too great and terrible a secret to be anything less than Him. Malkav.

"The 'Kindred' call it the 'Embrace,' as if the change was something no more than an introduction into a secret society. Something less than a fundamental reconstruction of ourselves. They pursue humanity as the runt of a wolf bitch's litter, dropped unceremoniously away from his stronger brothers and sisters, chases after his mother, not understanding it has abandoned them, and that they must fend for themselves."

"So the Sabbat does. So we must do. For we have seen what happens to those closest to the source of our madness, the madness Himself. It-- He --takes them for his own purposes. In these nights, our elders are pursuing their visions, unable to change course-- because He is truly the one in control."

"Our only hope is that by spreading the madness, we may thin it enough that it cannot take us all. Perhaps when Gehenna comes, we will remain whole, capable of keeping ourselves under some form of control in our own minds. Possibly we will only make things worse. But we have to do something."

"We must be ready for the end when it comes."

The tumultuous approach of Gehenna has wrought many strange events in the modern nights, not the least of which is the introduction of the Salubri to the Sabbat. While the tiny population of 'mainstream' Salubri suffer reputations as soul-stealers and diablerists, the Salubri antitribu have put the nigh-incomprehensible practices of that bloodline behind them. With a rage borne of centuries of persecution, the Salubri antitribu have developed a consuming hatred for the Camarilla and joined forces with the Sabbat to bring about its destruction.

The Pervs are artists, one way or another. Some Toreador antitribu patronize the arts, some create artistic works, others work on making artforms out of things that most people wouldn't think of as art, such as murder victims or ritual orgies, and still others are art. They are passionate, sensual, often sick and demented and usually viewed as deranged sicophants.

The Toreador antitribu were instrumental in the formation of the Sabbat, and much of what came out of the Convention of Thorns did so under the direction of Toreador anarchs who would later guide the sect. With the organizational efforts of the Lasombra and Tzimisce, and a few Ventrue antitribu, the Toreador created much of the Sect's structure, as well as codifying many of the sect's beliefs. Indeed, the early, anarchic nights of the sect may have seen its destruction, if not for the masterful misdirection of the Sabbat's esteemed artistes.

All Tremere Antitribu are traitors to their parent clan. In times past, a ritual was cast upon their progenitor, Goratrix, which placed a glowing sigil upon their foreheads branding them as traitors. As soon as any Tremere takes part in a Vaulderie Ritae the Sigil becomes aparent to all other Tremere. The sigil cannot be covered by any means and will evermore shine through should another Tremere be present. This sigil can also be seen with the Aura perception power of the Auspex dicipline. Additionally all Tremere Antitribu are hunted fiercly by the entire Camarilla and the Tremere whom they betrayed.

The Tremere Antitribu is the smallest clan within the Sabbat. Since the Camarilla Tremere are such bitter foes of the Sabbat, the Tremere Antitribu is the clan with the most to prove. However, the Sabbat leaders recognize the importance of having wizards on their side. The Tremere Antitribu are given a status unlike the members of other clans. They are respected and trusted, but they are resigned to achieving only the lower positions of leadership.

The Tzimisce clan is a venerable clan, stepped in tradition and lore. They are renowned within the Kindred community for its evil. Among the most renowned of this line is Vlad Tepes, the Impaler, who split centuries ago not only from the clan, but the sect as well. Tepes is especially infamous for his cruelty, but this trait is common among the members of the Tzimisce.

From time immemorial, the Tzimisce clan has stretched across the Baltic regions of Eastern Europe, haunting the region beyond the Elbe, along the Oder and Danube rivers, through the Pripet marshes, amid the peaks of the Carpathian Mountains. It established a great uncontested power base there until the Tremere, then a house of mortal magi, established covens in what later became northern Bulgaria. The two factions, Kindred and Magi, coexisted for a time, not intruding upon the domains of one another. But eventually, the power-mad magi of the Tremere captured some Tzimisce Elders, experimented on them and used them in perverse rituals, aimed at extracting the essence of their immortality from them. This experimentation on the stolen members of the Tzimisce clan was the end of the House Tremere and the beginning of the Clan Tremere.

A rival group of magi known as the House Tytalus, uncovered the Tremere activities and began maneuvering against that order with the aid of other Magi. The Tremere had seen this coming and were prepared, gathering additional magical support from an unrevealed source. House Tytalus met with defeat and the early efforts of the Inquisition curtailed its activities. The Tzimisce also suffered greatly at the hands of the new Clan Tremere by the end of the war between the magi orders.

Seeking revenge against the Clan Tremere, the Tzimisce offered to aid the House Tytalus. The Tzimisce offered support and, in exchange, House Tytalus promised to ensure that no mages encroached any further into the clan's territory. The two groups began working together against the Tremere. The uneasy alliance between the Tzimisce Kindred and the Tytalus Magi lasted for centuries. Even long after the need for the alliance passed, the two groups continued to aid one another as contacts and as occasional supporters. This was all kept very quiet as the the alliance continued. In fact, the Tzimisce still have connections with certain magi, which the clan keeps very secret to avoid censure by the leaders of other Kindred clans.

During the time of the Inquisition, Tzimisce anarchs went to great extremes to destroying the Elders of their clan, but in time, gave up in their efforts to destroy the remaining few. Most of the remaining Elders live as Inconnu in Bulgaria, Romania, Austria and Hungary, sitting alone in their cold dark mansions and castle havens. Over the centuries, they have accumulated so much magical and political power that they have no fear of their former clan, and fear the Camarilla even less.

Of all the clans, the Tzimisce are among the most educated and have a strong appreciation for learning. They have long been among the most knowledgeable and erudite Cainites. For millennia, other Kindred have made the perilous journey into the Carpathian mountains in search of Tzimisce wisdom (the fact that many of these vampires did not return deters other little) They are scholarly and are some of the most brilliant and enlightened beings on the earth. They seek to understand magic, as well as science, but have not quite reached the level of the Tremere in this understanding. But their studies (and experimentation with their Vicissitude discipline) have led them to the unequivocal conclusion that as vampires are more superior and more evolved than humans, so the Tzimisce are more advanced that other Kindred. The "best" (by Tzimisce standards) humans are to elevated; the rest are fodder. Unlike most Kindred, Tzimisce do not consider themselves cursed or damned, but a higher form of life.

A millennia of defending their domains from all sides has made the Tzimisce extremely vicious, and Tzimisce cruelty is infamous, even among the Kindred. While they are inhuman, they do not show it as overtly as do the Toreador Antitribu, for instance, but any significant time spent with a Tzimisce will eventually reveal their demented and twisted soul. Most Tzimisce tend to be grim and serious, and are noted for their twisted and warped sense of humor (or a lack of one in some cases). They are also known for the high value they place on their privacy and are very territorial, about their domains and especially their havens.

The Tzimisce is the second most powerful and numerous clan of the Sabbat. The Lasombra hold the top position in both categories. However, the Tzimisce are a driving force behind most of the Sabbat's ideology, goals and planning. The Tzimisce clan appears happy to let the Lasombra believe that the hold the reins of power in the sect.

Long ago, before the Sabbat and Camarilla existed, before the Anarch Revolt and before the Lasombra slew their Ancient and drank his precious vitae, the Ventrue were knights and lords, masters of their manors. After the powderkeg of the Anarch Revolt and Tyler's bold attack of Hardestadt the Elder came the Renaissance, and the Ventrue changed with the times. Driven by greed and power-lust, the Ventrue shifted tack. Rather than maintain their noble status, they pursued greater interests in the merchant class. Leaving behind the duty of nobility and the divine right of kings, the Ventrue surrounded themselves with excess and filthy lucre. So believe the Ventrue Antitribu.

The Ventrue Antitrubu are traitors to their clan and sect. Their loyalties now lie with the Sabbat. Because the Venture are the, so called, leaders of the Camarilla, their Antitribu brethren are often looked down upon. However, the simple fact that they chose to join the Sabbat makes them appear incredibly loyal to the sect. After all, no Ventrue could go back to the Camarilla once he has joined the Sabbat. The Ventrue Antitribu are often offered respect simply because of their willingness to denounce their clan and join the Sabbat.

The Antitribu are just as pragmatic and shrewd as their Camarilla brethren but are
usually more prone to unethical business practices and dirty tactics.

The Black Hand is an organization that is steeped in mystery. Not even some members of the Sabbat understand it's goals or it's origins.

When the Sabbat formed, the Tal'mahe'Ra infiltrated the sect. The Tal'mahe'Ra managed to insert several operatives in the Sabbat. Keeping the Sabbat ignorant of the existence of the Tal'mahe'Ra, a separate Black Hand sub-sect was established within the Sabbat. The sub-sect's job is to hold the Sabbat together, so it can be used against the Camarilla.

The Tal'mahe'Ra calls itself the True Hand, while referring to the Sabbat sub-sect as the False Hand. Supposedly, True Hand operatives direct the False Hand, while keeping the false members ignorant of the Tal'mahe'Ra. The loyalty of the True Hand members running the False Hand has always been suspect. This information is very tightly held and quite rare, and therefore only available with Sabbat Insider Lore 5.
