Government is like Junior High. Your status depends upon whom you're able to persecute.
 - Jonathan Kellerman

"Status is about expectations. Do I think our Esteemed, Gentile, Sophisticated and Revered Primogen is *capable* of tearing you limb from limb and leaving you as a bloody husk waiting for the sun?  Of course I do, she's hundreds of years old and considers you about as useful to her as toilet paper. It just isn't what I'd expect."

Status defines the level of respect a Kindred has within Camarilla Society.  It determines the weight with which a Kindred's word should be regarded, as well as the "pecking order" within Kindred society. It is a resume of adjectives that define character, position, and standing in the Camarilla. Simply put, those with more status can demand respect from, or even ignore, those with less.  In cases where there is a dispute between Kindred and the evidence is lacking, Status, and who has more of it, is often the deciding factor in who is right.

Within the Camarilla, there are many things that define a Vampire. The following adjectives are a sample of the most common forms of Camarilla Status: Acknowledged, Admired, Adored, Cherished, Esteemed, Exalted, Famous, Faultless, Feared, Honorable, Influential, Just, Praised, Respected, Revered, Trustworthy, Well-Connected, and Well-Known.

Status only pertains to the Camarilla. Individual clans have their own methods of measuring respect called Clan Prestige and Anarchs have something called Rep. A Camarilla Vampire who learns a Anarch member's Rep may alter her choice on how to interact with that Vampire, but these other forms of recognition do not have anything to do with the Status system we are discussing below.

In game, you will be required to wear a physical representation of your character's Status which will be discussed as part of the rules below.

"Oh, Braxton said he thought you were a real tough thing, eh?  Listen, I don't care if he told you that he thought you were responsible for saving North America from Caine gone mad.  If he didn't say it in public, it's just pillowtalk.  Now leave the upper deck before I ask the Keeper to do something about the smell."

Kindred are ageless, powerful and ruled by the supernatural pull of the cursed blood of Caine. It makes sense therefore that Kindred inherently fear each other. It is from this fear that the system of Prestation (Status) was born. Kindred, (Elders especially) have an inherent need to classify the traits of other Kindred to serve as both warning and accolade about what there fellow denizens are capable of.

Public Granting and Removing of Status Traits

Any announcements of the granting or loss of Status must be made publicly, at an assembled gathering in character. This must always be logged with the Harpy of the Domain and the home Domain of the individual who is gaining or losing the Status if the Kindred is just visiting.

System:

To denote that a Positive Status is being given, the granter will make a thumbs-up sign when speaking aloud the new Positive Status Trait being granted.
To denote that a Negative Status is being given, the granter will make a pinky-down sign when speaking aloud the new Negative Status Trait being given.
To denote that a Positive Status is being stripped, the granter will make a thumbs -down sign while speaking aloud the Positive Status Trait that is being removed.
To denote that a Negative Status is being removed, the granter will make a pinky-up sign while speaking aloud the Negative Status Trait that is being removed.

Note: In addition to logging these changes with the Harpy, you must visit the bookkeeping ST who will adjust your beads and cards.

Public Scandal and Status

If the motives for the granting/stripping of Status Traits come into question, it is the Harpy's job to initiate an investigation and publicly pronounce the results. The Harpy has the power to strip the granted Status Trait, as well as a Status Trait from the one who has granted it, if the exchange is viewed as a scandal. The Harpy will also publicly assign Negative Status traits if she deems nessecary, and make sure that everyone who is anyone hears all about it.

Public Loaning of Status Traits

Camarilla Kindred who loan Status Traits to assist their allies must lodge their willingness to publicly back another with their Domain’s Harpy. As such, Status loans become public knowledge. Loaned Status cannot be re-loaned or traded again.

To represent the public nature of Status, you as the player are required to wear a physical representation of your character's status. This is represented by beads that show the number of status you have and notecards that record temporarily loaned status. Temporarily Loaned Status is shown on a notecard, and Permenant, Positional, Phantom and Indefinitely Loaned Status is shown on a circle of different colored beads. The circle must be worn in a clearly visable area on the upper body at all times while in character. Temporary notecards can be worn if you forget your prop beads. The Bookkeeping Storyteller has these beads, however you can make your own as long as it uses the same color/symbol configuration.

Beads for Deeds

  • No silver circle or beads denotes an unrecognized Kindred who has not yet recieved Acknowledged status from the domain or has had it taken away. The Scourge may destroy without penalty any Kindred without status - although usually a new Kindred is allowed a four week grace period in which to be presented to the Prince or Seneschal.
  • An empty silver circle with no status beads or symbols denotes a Ghoul.
  • A silver circle with a key symbol denotes and Unreleased Camarilla Childer.
  • A single white (pearl) bead on a silver circle with a lock symbol denotes an Independent or Anarch Kindred with the status Tolerated or Welcomed. Black (hematite) beads denote Negative Status traits.
  • A silver circle with white (pearl) beads and a key symbol denotes an Acknowledged Camarilla Kindred. This is the most common configuration.
  • Additional white (pearl) beads denote Positive Personal Status
  • Additional black (hematite) beads denote Negative Personal Status
  • Gold beads represent Positional Status

Beads and Cards for Loans and Phantom Status

  • Temporarily Loaned status is represented by notecards worn by both the loaner and the loanee. The card is negative for the loaner (they are effectively down one status) and positive for the loanee (they are effectively up one status).
  • Indefinitely Loaned Status is represented by Clear and Silver beads. The loaner must replace her White (pearl) or Gold bead with a Clear bead and the loanee gets a Silver Bead.
  • Loaned Status indicators need to be worn until the status is revoked by a public stripping or the loaner takes it back.
  • Positive Phantom Status is represented by a Green (emerald) bead.
  • Negative Phantom Status is represented by a Black (hematite) bead
  • All card and bead changes, subtractions or exchanges need to be approved by the Bookeeping ST.

Note: Though the Status Beads and Cards are out-of-character props, because they represent the public nature of Status, Kindred who would keep up with Prestation can be assumed to know the basic Status rating of any Kindred in the Domain. If you feel your character would not keep up with Status you may choose to ignore the props (but you still have to wear them). If your character wants to find out the Status Trait details of another Kindred, such as what deeds they are known for or who gave a particular Status Trait, you can ask the Harpy in character or make an Intelligence + Politics roll (modified by Camarilla Lore) to determine those details.

"Let it be known that I agree with our Valorous, Esteemed, and Revered Branogan Forthe that his childer, Damoreux Von Milton is deserving of the recognition and status of an Acknowledged Kindred of this domain. Give unto him the protections of our kind, and trust in him that he is instructed in the laws and customs of the same. Welcome to the night, young Damoreux.  Try to stay out of the light, and out from underfoot."

The very first Status a Kindred will ever recieve from the Camarilla is the status Acknowledged. The very first time they will recieve it is after they are Released by their Sire in accordance with the Tradition of the Accounting. Until a vampire leaves the Accounting and gains Acknowledgment in the Camarilla, she has no Status.

In accordance with the Tradition of Hospitality, each Kindred must have their Camarilla Acknowledgement accepted by the Prince of any Domain they enter.  Without this re-acceptance, Kindred cannot claim any of the Status they had been previously granted.

System: Acknowledgement is not purchased at character creation. It is inferred that a character has already undergone the rigors of the Accounting unless you are playing an Unreleased Childer or Ghoul.  See House Rules in under the Stuff and Kindred Who Love It heading for the Letter of Introduction that gets your character in the door. See the Character Creation section to learn how to purchase more Status. (Note: Status cannot be bought after Character Creation - it can only be won or lost through role-play.)

Status for Anarchs and Independents

  • Anarchs and Independents can petition to recieve the Status Tolerated or Welcomed. (welcomed provides a few more priviledges)
  • Anarchs and Independents can never gain any more than the one Positive Status that is represented by either the Trait Tolerated or Welcomed.
  • Anarchs and Independents may gain Negative Status.
  • Sabbat never gain any Status among the Camarilla ever. (Other than possibly Scourge-bait)

Status for Ghouls

  • Ghouls are nothing more than property. When a Prince identifies a Ghoul within her Domain as exceptional, that Ghoul may be granted the title of Recognized, which ifunctions as a Phantom Status Trait, but does not make the ghoul an Acknowledged member of the Camarilla.

There are several types of Status that may apply to Kindred:

  • Personal Status is limited to a total of six  Positive Status traits, including Acknowledged and may be gained or lost by in-character actions or modified in the form of Negative Status Traits.
  • Positional Status is given in association with a particular job or Court position within the Camarilla and will be lost if the position is lost.
  • Loaned Status is used to indicate temporary support from allies or positions within the court.
  • Phantom Status adds flavor to your character's Status list and is associated with certain unique backgrounds.

Status Traits consist of a one or two word descriptor, a mention of whom gave the character the status and deed that the status was given for. Keep a written account of your character's status traits on your charcter sheet or a note card like the example below:

Example of a Camarilla Vampire with Position and Status modifying Merits, in descriptive form:
Jane Doe - Sheriff of Seattle

Personal Status represents a list of deeds for which a Kindred is known. These deeds are represented by Traits in the form of descriptive adjectives that are either Positive, raising the esteem of the Kindred, or Negitive, showing Camarilla society's disfavor. Generally, Positive Status is given by a Prince, Seneschal or the Primogen of the character's Clan. Usually Negative Status is given by a Prince, Harpy or Seneschal of the Domain and reduces the Status total of the Character. Positive Status can also simply be removed by any of the above Positions.

For example, a rough-edged Brujah with the simple Acknowledged status is fairly low in status, having an effective status rating of 1. His partner, a seedy Gangrel with Acknowledged status that has made some mistakes might also have the Negative status trait Inexperienced given to him. This means that he is effectively at status 0, but still technically retains his Acknowledged status, so he isn’t at risk of being hunted by the Scourge.

You should know and record the deeds associated with each Positive and Negative Status Trait on your character sheet or a notecard.

Note: Complete rules for the granting and stripping of Personal Status are listed toward the bottom of this page.

Only one Status Trait for One Deed

  • Positive Status cannot be gained more than once for the same deed or type of deed. Status cannot be stripped or Negative Status applied for the same deed or type of deed either.
  • Those with Court Positions will not gain Personal Status for doing their jobs.

Note: While your character may not be able to get more status for repeated good deeds, Boons, Domain, Blood and other tangible rewards are fair game, and worthy in their own right.

A Kindred assuming a Camarilla position that carries Positional Status Traits adds those Status Traits to her Status total.  These Traits may not be permanently stripped as long as she holds the position.  Though it is possible to hold multiple Camarilla positions, a Kindred may only claim the Status inherent to one of the offices, usually whichever is greater.

Positional Status for Camarilla Positions

Justicar: Known as Faultless, Just, Feared
Alastor: Known as Sanctioned, Feared
Archon: Known as Empowered, Feared
Prince: Known as Exalted, Famous, Well-Known
Seneschal: Known as Cherished, Esteemed
Primogen: Known as Revered
Harpy: Known as Influential
Sheriff: Known as Feared
Keeper of Elysium: Known as Honorable
Scourge: Known as Feared

Positional Status is valid in any Domain that the possessor visits, though their positional authority is confined to the Domain where they hold that position.  A Justicar, Archon or Alastor's authority is valid anywhere, therefore, they may grant or strip Status as they see fit.

Positions vs. Status

While it is possible for particularly high status Kindred to have more total Status Traits than a Kindred with a Camarilla court position, this does not automatically give the Kindred without a position more power than the Kindred with one. No Prince, regardless of their Status would presume to have more authority than an Archon just because they have more Status Traits, just as no Kindred of high standing should presume to have more authority than the Prince based soley on the backing of Loaned or Personal Status. While it does behoove those with positions to show additional respect to those with more Status than themselves, this does not override their positional authority and the respect due to it.

Assistant Positions

Certain Camarilla Positions are allowed to create lesser versions of their positions. These positions work in a similar manner as the Seneshal to the Prince. They may carry out the functions of the court positions in the absence of the position holder and assist them in their duties. Creating Assistant positions requires a loan of Personal or Positional Status from the position holder, except in the case of Whips, which may be loaned status but do not require it. If Positional Status is loaned, then the holder of that Status is assumed to be acting as that Position for the duration of the loan.

Assistant positions are as follows:

PositionAssistantLoaned Status Requirement
Greater HarpyLesser HarpyRequired
SheriffDeputy SheriffRequired
ScourgeDeputy ScourgeRequired
Keeper of ElysiumElysium HostRequired
PrimogenWhipOptional
  • Kindred are not considered official assistants unless they have been loaned Status by the Court position who wants them as an assistant, however court positions can still ask people to do things for them in an 'unofficial' capacity.
  • A court position holder may may choose what functions an Assistant may perform, limiting their power in any way they see fit, however the power of an Assistant may never exceed that of the position itself.
  • In order to appoint a Vampire to an Assistant position, the holder of the parent position must not only loan a Status Trait to the recipient, but also declare the appointment to the rest of the Domain.
  • Assistants cannot delegate powers granted to them by the pimary position holder to others.

There are two ways to loan Status to another Kindred; temporarily for a specific task or indefinitely for a long term show of support.  In the first, a Kindred may loan a single trait of her Status to another to show favor or to empower her for a period of time.  In the second, a Status Trait is loaned indefinitely but can be taken back if they loaner so chooses or the character leaves the domain or dies.

Status Loans for a specific task

If a character wished to gain audience with the Prince of her Domain, she could ask for a loan of status from others in order to have enough to be taken seriously by the Chamberlain.  Once the Kindred leaves the Prince’s chamber and informs her clanmates she was able to speak to the Prince, all loaned status returns to the proper owners. Loaned status is also often used to add 'weight' to the words of a particular Kindred. If a Kindred has the backing of many others, they are likely to be taken more seriously by the Prince or other court members.

System: The person loaning the status needs to get a stamped notecard from the bookkeeping Storyteller stating the status trait loaned and a second card for themselves. Both cards are worn to show that one character is loaning, and one is receiving a loan.

Status Loans for a period of time

The Sheriff of the Domain decides to create a Deputy Sheriff. Upon doing so, she must assign one Status trait to the character that will become her deputy.  The Sheriff's Deputy will retain this loaned status until the Sheriff requests it back, which automatically removes the Deputy.

System: Indefinitely Loaned Status is represented by Clear and Silver beads. The loaner must replace her White (pearl) bead with a Clear bead if she is loaning a Personal Status or replace her Gold bead with a Clear bead if she is loaning Positional Status and the loanee gets a Silver Bead.

How Loaned Status is affected by scandal

In the event that a Kindred acts in a scandalous manner, and she is in possession of loaned Status, the negative view of her actions reflects on those who have loaned her Status as well.  If a Kindred is loaned a Status Trait through a favor by an Elder, and the younger Kindred is found to have broken a law or acted in some scandalous way, the Elder will also suffer some consequences including possibly being stripped of the Status Trait that he had loaned, gaining a Negative Status Trait or owing Boons to the offended party.

  • A Kindred may loan only one Status Trait to any given Vampire, though she may loan Status Traits to multiple Kindred as long as she has Personal Status to loan.
  • Loaned Status cannot be re-loaned by the borrowing Kindred to another Vampire under any circumstances.

Certain Merits and Flaws act as status modifiers known as Phantom Status. Phantom Status does not add to a character's overall number of Status Traits, however they are Status considerations that may be taken into account when role-playing Prestation. For example in the case of two warring elders with a dispute going before the Prince, were they both to have identical Status Traits (representing equal weight of prestige and opinion within the Domain) a character with a Phantom Status could break the tie. Below are some of the traits that can give, or take away the edge in a game of prestige.

The Merits: Prestigious Sire and Reputation act as Phantom Positive Status.  They do not count toward the maximum 6 Personal nor may they be bid or loaned. The Kindred with either of these Merits is simply perceived as having one higher Status than she actually does, and will garner more respect in social situations.  These Phantom Status do not get logged with the Harpy, nor are they considered to be Personal Status Traits.  No Harpy can strip these Merits, but they can be lost through game play should a Kindred fail to keep up her Reputation, or should her Sire fall into disgrace (storyteller discretion).

The Bookkeeper/Status Coordinator must approve all Prestigious Sires, in an effort to assist with the historical continuity of Emerald Chronicles. A character with either of these merits would list them below their permanent Status Traits on their character sheet.

  • Ghouls are sometimes given the Phantom Status Recognized for being exeptional this is treated as Phantom Status.

The Flaws: Conversely, the Flaws Infamous Sire and Notoriety act as Phantom Negative Status.  No Status award can negate these Flaws, but they can be bought off through role-play should the Sire redeem herself, or should the negative reputation become redeemed (storyteller discretion).

These Phantom Status Traits do not get logged with the Harpy, nor do they decrease the actual number of a Kindred’s Personal Status Traits.  But a Vampire with these Flaws will be treated as if they had less Status than they actually hold, and other Kindred will not be expected to respect the Status, which is reduced by either flaw.  Vampires with these Flaws would list their Status the same as detailed above for Reputation or Prestigious Sire, but as negative numbers, which lessen their Perceived Status.

The Bookkeeper/Status Coordinator must approve all Infamous Sires in an effort to assist with the historical continuity of Emerald Chronicles.

Assamites as Probationary Sect Members

Schismatic Assamites carry the Negative Phantom Status Flaw Probationary Sect Member when they become members of the Camarilla.  Any member of that clan shall be subject to the rules of the Flaw of the same title found on page 119 in Laws of the Night: Revised, until they have proven themselves (Storyteller discretion). This flaw can be lost thorough role-play if the Assamite character proves himself worthy to the Domain.

"Who am I? Well, that's not really a question you should be asking, now is it? What are you, new? If I'm the first person you spoke with about meeting people by pure instinct, then there could be hope for you yet, but not tonight. Go impress a few people of note, then maybe we'll talk. Hush now. What's that Primogen Orvis? You want to register a boon? Between yourself and Moinseiur Caravaggio? Yes of course I can take care of that Gentlemen, this Neonate was just leaving."

The Harpy is the Camarilla position responsible for monitoring and making public the reputations and dealings of Kindred in the form of Status and Boons. They are part rumor monger, banker postman and town crier (especially when it comes to scandal). Unlike most Camarilla positions, the Harpy is elected by the Primogen Council of the Domain. The Primogen show their support of the Harpy by indefinitely loaning them one Personal Status for the duration of their office. This is not required, but is highly reccomended as the Harpy can act as the Primogen and Elders' voice against the Prince should they feel she is lacking. In this way, the Harpy is the closest thing to a check and balance that Kindred society has. This makes the Kindred who holds the position very powerful, but beholden to many.

Because there is at least one Harpy in every metropolitan Domain, Harpies are often the way that many rumors andmuch  information is traded between Domains. While harpies don't truly answer to anyone, regional Harpies of great power and prestige called Grand Harpies oversee the Greater Harpies of the Camarilla and act to connect the various Harpies to one-another in order to keep the jucy rumors flowing throught the World of Darkness.

A Harpy's Loaned and Positional Status

Upon being appointed by the Primogen Council, (at the strong urging of the Prince) a Harpy gains the Positional Status Influential and is shown support with a Loaned Personal Status Trait from each of the Primogen.  The Primogen, in turn, list this Trait as loaned so long as they support the Harpy.  Though these Traits are Loaned Status, they may not be used by the Harpy when comparing Status Traits in a regular (personal) debate.  The Harpy can call upon the Traits when performing Harpy business (i.e. stripping status, mediating a boon dispute, investigating a scandal, etc.).

Should a Primogen feel that the Harpy is not properly doing her job, they can temporarily, or in extreme cases, permanently remove their support from her.   In this situation, the Harpy would not be able to call upon that Primogen’s Status Trait during the course of her business.  A Harpy should be especially careful not to incur the wrath of the Primogen Council while in her position, as they can take away her position as easily as they gave it to her.  Conversly though (and this can be problematic) a Harpy does not pander to the Primogen council if it is a member of the Council who is involved in a scandal without potentially incurring the disfavor of other Harpies in other Domains who may hear about it, and even the Grand harpy, who may act against a Harpy caught doing so. Talk about a rock and a hard place! When the majority of the clans in a city no longer support the current Harpy, a new Harpy must be voted on by the Primogen Council, or else the lost support must be regained quickly.

Duties of the Harpy

  • A Harpy logs boons that are owed between Kindred and registers when they have been spent. (this is currently done in game in a book prop that is kept in Elysium)
  • They are responsible for moderating the boon economy by making sure that the level of boon (Blood, Major, Trivial, etc.) is reflective of the deed performed and the respective status of the parties involved
  • The Harpy monitors and reports status changes including making sure if they are properly deserved and correcting them if they are not.
  • The Harpy is responsible for publicising good deeds and scandals within her own Domain
  • The Harpy is responsible for spreading important information to and from other Domains so that those with sufficient Status to ask or boons to pay can find out what's going on.

The Ventrue Primogen rose from her chair on the dais like a statue leaving the display. She did not often speak in public, and it was obvious that she expected attention from everyone. The other Primogen and respected elders on the dais stopped their murmuring, and someone elbowed a Gangrel in the middle of his joke.

"I think everyone will agree with me that Brandon was of great use in dealing with the recent Sabbat problem.  Clearly he has proven himself to be very Informative.  Still Cheeky, but quite Informative.  For this, you have our gratitude and recognition.  Take it as a token of hope for your future."

Those who may grant and strip Status:

Generally, those who may grant Status by the power of their office may only do so for acts that occur within their own Domain or to Kindred who reside there.  Justicars, Archons, Alastors and Grand Harpies' power is absolute, globally.  Therefore, they are exempt from this limitation. Any Kindred (of the following offices) can only grant and strip as many status per night as they have Personal and Positional Status. Any further limitations on these positions' ability to grant or strip Personal Status will be listed below:

Justicars, Archons, Alastors znd Greater Harpies have no further limitations on granting or stripping Status Traits.

Princes have no further limitations, however granting the Status Traits of Acknowledged, Tolerated Welcomed or the Phantom Status Recognized does not count toward the Prince's nightly total. Princes may grant or Strip Status.

Seneschals may, when the Prince is absent, grant the Status Traits of Acknowledged, Tolerated Welcomed or the Phantom Status Recognized, which does not count toward the Prince's nightly total. The decision may be revoked by the Prince if she chooses to do so.Seneshals may grant or strip status.

The Primogen Council
may remove one Status Trait from their Prince by collectively giving up Personal Status Traits equal to the Prince’s  Status Traits Total.

Primogen may grant Status to, or strip Status from, a member of their clan only.

Whips may only grant Status to, or strip Status from,  a member of their clan and only when their clan Primogen is absent. The Desicion may be revoked by the Primogen upon her return.

Harpies may restore Status they have stripped, grant Negative Status and strip positive Status from any Kindred who has backed out of a boon or been involved in a scandal. The Harpy's nightly total is increased by her Loaned Status from the Primogen.

Keepers of Elysium
may remove a Personal Status Trait from any Kindred they catch Breaching Elysium or the Masquerade within their own city.  This removal costs nothing. The Keeper of Elysium has no limit on her nightly total.

Sheriffs
may remove one Personal  Status Trait from anyone who refuses to accompany them for questioning or judgment while they are within their own city.  They may also remove a Status Trait from any Kindred who refused to aid or actively hinders the Sheriff in the course of his duties. This removal costs nothing. The Sheriff has no limit on her nightly total.

Scourges
may remove a Personal Status Trait from any Kindred that is discovered to be harboring or abetting Vampires created without the Prince’s permission or who have not been presented formally to the Prince of the Domain.  This removal costs nothing. The Scourge has no limit on her nightly total.

Assistant Positions powers to grant or strip status are drawn from, and defined by the powers of the primary position holder, but cannot exceed that position's power.

A Clan
may remove one Status Trait from a high Status Kindred of the same clan by collectively giving up Personal Status Traits equal to the Higher Status Kindred’s Status Trait Total.

Any Kindred may grant or strip a Personal Status Trait to another Kindred if they are of the same clan and they have more than double the Personal Status of the individual receiving the Status. Stripping and Granting a permenant Status also requires that the Kindred adjusting the status give up a Personal Status of their own to do so. The granting or stripping of Status must be made publicly.  This is the only manner in which a Kindred can grant Status to someone in another Domain.  Thus, even if a Prince (for example) wishes to grant or strip Status to or from someone in another Domain, she must belong to the same clan and possess more than double the Personal Status of the individual receiving the Status grant.  Some Princes may consider this a Breach of Domain, so Kindred choosing to exercise this option are warned to tread carefully.

What was HarpyNet?

HarpyNet was an online database of status levels for each Kindred in the Emerald Domain. HarpyNet didn't exist in game, it was meant to represent the gossip that Kindred had about one another. Every Kindred has access to their own status by speaking with the Harpy, but only Kindred with status of four or higher can ask for access to the harpy's full records of everyone in the domain. Kindred can make a perception + politics check to see if they can tell what another Kindred's Status Trait details were.

Harpynet was too complex to keep up with for Status tracking, so we switched to beads and cards, which spreads out the track of status a little bit to each person instead of making Status tracking the sole job of the poor chump playing harpy.

Out of character Status tracking is now done by the Bookkeeping Storyteller, and like every other change that occurs to your character sheet, each player is responsible for notifying the bookkeeper. Misrepresenting your status beads is considered cheating, so make sure that your characters beads and cards match the bookkeepers records.

Boon tracking is still done by the Harpy and her book. (A prop located in Elysium)
